Fretwise Privacy Policy

Fretwise ("the app") is a guitar theory, scales, chords, and CAGED fretboard reference app for iOS and Android, published by Burak Akkaya. This page explains what data the app collects and how it's used.

What we collect

Fretwise does not require an account, sign-in, or profile to use. Your saved favorites, tuning, and display preferences are stored only on your device and are never sent to us.

• Purchase information. If you buy the Fretwise Unlimited lifetime pass, the purchase is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play and verified through our payments provider, RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives anonymous store transaction data to confirm and restore your purchase — we never see or store your payment details.
• Advertising data. If you're on the free (ad-supported) version, Fretwise shows ads through Google AdMob. Depending on your device, region, and consent choices, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and general location (derived from IP address) to show or measure ads. If you decline personalized advertising, you'll still see ads, but they will be less personalized.

What we don't collect

Fretwise does not collect your name, email, contact list, precise location, health data, or any content you create in the app. We don't have servers that store your personal data — the scales, chords, and theory content are all bundled inside the app itself.

Third parties

The only two external services Fretwise uses are RevenueCat (purchase verification) and Google AdMob (advertising, free version only). Both are industry-standard providers with their own privacy policies linked above.

Children's privacy

Fretwise is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

You can change advertising consent or tracking choices through the prompts and privacy controls available on your device. On iOS, tracking permission can also be changed in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Purchasing Fretwise Unlimited removes ads entirely.

Data deletion requests

Fretwise does not create user accounts or store personal profiles. To request deletion of anonymous purchase-verification data associated with your app installation, email burakakkayaa@gmail.com with the subject “Fretwise data deletion request.” We will delete or disassociate data we control and submit the corresponding request to our service providers where applicable. Local favorites and preferences can be deleted by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app. Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or AdMob may retain transaction, fraud-prevention, security, or legal records for the periods required by their policies or applicable law.
